The redevelopment
of the Grade II* listed 1960's Brunswick Centre in Bloomsbury involves
maintenance and recladding of the existing residential properties and
the complete refurbishment of the retail facilities.
Whilst enclosing
the shopping area and introducing a major supermarket unit, the redevelopment
respects the original Patrick Hodgkinson design. As part of the reprovision,
the Brunswick Medical Centre is reprovided as a new facility after a period
in temporary accommodation, essential to enable the major redevelopment.
Paulley Architects
have designed the new surgery over two levels, which helps delineate between
the public and private zones within the Centre. Great emphasis is placed
upon interior design and artificial lighting to enliven the internal environment
for both patients and staff.
